J for Jewel, K for Kalfidis: Discovering Blue Sapphires
The sapphire is a gemstone of exceptional beauty and brilliance, known for its characteristic deep blue colour. It has been much loved over the centuries and has been identified with luxury and fine jewellery, often adorning royalty and other famous jewellery with a long history. KALFIDIS Jewellery ring with diamonds and blue sapphire What is Sapphire? Sapphire is a gemstone that belongs to the variety of currude. It is a hard mineral, with its colour varying depending on the angle from which it is viewed. Its most characteristic colour is blue, but it can also be found in nature in yellow, purple, orange and green shades. The red sapphire is called a ruby. Did you know that? Description: The name of sapphire comes from the ancient Greek word "sapphire", meaning blue, the main shade of sapphire. Hardness: Corundum is the second hardest material found in nature, after diamond. On the Mohs scale of hardness, it is number 9 (only diamond is number 10). Where to find them: The largest deposits of sapphire are found in Sri Lanka, Australia, South Africa, India, Madagascar, Thailand, South Africa, India and the USA. Birthstone: sapphire is the birthstone of September. It symbolizes wisdom and tranquility and is believed to give peace and protection to whoever wears it. Monolith: Sapphire, is one of the most popular alternatives to engagement rings, also known as solitaire. The Alexandrite Effect: Some sapphires exhibit the Alexandrite effect. Some sapphires exhibit the phenomenon of sapphire iridescence. The most precious sapphires: The colour is what mainly determines the value of a sapphire. A sapphire with a bright blue colour, which keeps its hue the same under different lighting conditions, is considered one of the most valuable. Famous sapphire jewellery: The most distinctive and famous piece of sapphire jewellery is Princess Diana's engagement ring, featuring a striking oval Ceylon sapphire set with diamonds. This is the same ring that Prince William gave to Kate Middleton. Watches with the signature of Danish design
Watches with the signature of Danish design
Watches that will give your everyday life the minimal aesthetics and the timeless elegance of Danish design! While we are now used to looking at the time on our mobile phones, watches have been making a comeback in recent years as one of the biggest trends in jewellery. Watches or art objects? Women's and men's wristwatches by Arne Jacobsen and Danish company Picto have gained a fan following for their unique aesthetic and design. Discover the famous watches signed by Arne Jacobsen, the architect who made Danish design famous around the world!Jacobsen became widely known for his diverse design products, including his famous egg chair and his famous watches. Jacobsen designed the clock and the Aarhus City Hall building in 1942 and the clock and the building for the National Bank of Denmark in 1978. These iconic clocks were re-designed for wristwatches under the names Roman and Bankers respectively. Designers Steen Georg Christensen and Erling Andersen created their famous watches in the 1980s, wanting to "comment" on the relativity of time by proposing a new way of looking at time. A 'picture of time', as the name of the famous clocks reminds us. PICTO, following the Danish minimalist design, consists of a dot for hour hand and a fine needle. The innovative design of PICTO conquered the world and was much loved by the art world. Today, they are part of the permanent exhibition at MoMA, New York's museum of modern art. Colourful, cheerful, innovative, Danish PICTOs propose a new, less stressful way of looking at time, reminding us of the relativity of time. Combine them with the strap of your choice. Leather strap, silicone or metallic? Do you like monochrome or are you inspired by the color block? You decide! See the Picto and Arne Jacobsen collections in our e-shop.

Construction of a plaque for the heroes of COVID-19
Construction of a plaque for the heroes of COVID-19
It was our great pleasure and honor to undertake the design and manufacture of the plaque that was awarded at the award event "The heroes of COVID-19 in northern Greece". The event was organized by the journalistic complex "Macedonia" and the PR BIZZ communication company and took place on September 10, at the hall of HELEXPO Emilios Riadis. It was an extremely moving initiative, in the context of which the people who contributed with sacrifice and heroism to the protection of human life, as well as the companies that actively supported the state's efforts to fight and respond to the pandemic, were honoured. We are very pleased to have been given the opportunity to contribute to this event and to express our gratitude to all these people. Heroes of COVID-19, thank you very much!

Pearls: Useful tips for their proper maintenance and care
Pearls: Useful tips for their proper maintenance and care
A timeless symbol of elegance and beauty, pearls are certainly one of the most beloved pieces of jewellery for women. Many times our clients turn to us to repair a piece of pearl jewellery that has either been struck or has lost its original luster. But what should you do to keep your pearls in good condition? Pearls need the necessary care to be properly preserved. True pearls are formed from the organic matter secreted by oysters and to remain "alive" they need moisture which they absorb from the atmosphere or from the body that wears them. We have compiled below some tips for their proper protection and maintenance: Always wear them after your personal care, make-up, perfume, so that they are not affected by the chemicals that may be contained in the products you use. Do not wear them while doing any household work, as cleaning products may damage them. Do not wear them while cooking, as some ingredients, for example vinegar, lemon juice and baking soda, may damage your jewellery. Wipe them frequently with a soft dry cloth that has not been used elsewhere. Pearls are one of the softest materials in jewellery making. They are, therefore, very likely to be scratched if they come into contact with other jewellery materials. For this reason, it is recommended that they be placed in soft cloth cases, separate from other jewellery. You should also be particularly careful not to drop your jewellery on a hard surface. You should check their binding and clasp frequently, and every two years, or even every year if you wear them frequently, you should take them to professional jewellers to have them cleaned and the special silk thread with which they are bound changed. Changing the thread also removes any accumulated dust that can damage your pearls. Discover our collections of pearl jewellery: Maritima(link) Utopia(link)
