Watches that will give your everyday life the minimal aesthetics and the timeless elegance of Danish design!
While we are now used to looking at the time on our mobile phones, watches have been making a comeback in recent years as one of the biggest trends in jewellery. Watches or art objects? Women's and men's wristwatches by Arne Jacobsen and Danish company Picto have gained a fan following for their unique aesthetic and design. Discover the famous watches signed by Arne Jacobsen, the architect who made Danish design famous around the world!Jacobsen became widely known for his diverse design products, including his famous egg chair and his famous watches.
Jacobsen designed the clock and the Aarhus City Hall building in 1942 and the clock and the building for the National Bank of Denmark in 1978. These iconic clocks were re-designed for wristwatches under the names Roman and Bankers respectively.
Designers Steen Georg Christensen and Erling Andersen created their famous watches in the 1980s, wanting to "comment" on the relativity of time by proposing a new way of looking at time. A 'picture of time', as the name of the famous clocks reminds us. PICTO, following the Danish minimalist design, consists of a dot for hour hand and a fine needle. The innovative design of PICTO conquered the world and was much loved by the art world. Today, they are part of the permanent exhibition at MoMA, New York's museum of modern art.
Colourful, cheerful, innovative, Danish PICTOs propose a new, less stressful way of looking at time, reminding us of the relativity of time.
Combine them with the strap of your choice. Leather strap, silicone or metallic? Do you like monochrome or are you inspired by the color block? You decide!
